Governance that protects public confidence
The credibility of an accreditation body depends on the integrity of its governance. IOTEFL separates policy development, assessment, decision-making, appeals and ongoing quality monitoring wherever practicable, supporting fairness, objectivity and accountability.
Accreditation Committee
Reviews assessment findings and makes accreditation decisions using published criteria and documented evidence.

Professional Certification Committee
Evaluates applications from individual educators, including qualifications, professional experience, supporting evidence and compliance with IOTEFL certification standards.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Maintains the integrity of IOTEFL standards through periodic monitoring, policy review, complaints management, corrective action and continuous improvement.
Appeals & Ethics Panel
Reviews appeals, complaints, ethical concerns and potential conflicts of interest independently from the original assessment or decision.
Advisory Board
Provides strategic and professional advice on education, quality assurance, teacher development, international cooperation and the continued evolution of IOTEFL standards.

The IOTEFL Advisory Board
The Advisory Board brings together experienced professionals from education, quality assurance, teacher training and international academic development. Its role is advisory: members support strategic development, review emerging needs and contribute professional insight.
Advisory Board members do not participate in decisions involving their own organisations or any matter in which an actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest exists.

Conflict of interest
Protecting the independence of every decision
Assessors, reviewers, committee members and advisors are required to declare any actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest before taking part in an assessment, review or decision-making process. Where a relevant conflict exists, that individual is excluded from the matter concerned and an alternative reviewer or decision-maker is appointed.
